Greetings everyone!

I'm Mark, and I live in Texas. I became a member of PB in September of 2016 after doing research for online watercolor painting and art tutorials. I stumbled upon PB, and was quite impressed with the classes offered here. I've also found the friendliness and encouragement I've seen while "trolling" (reading) the forum since last year quite impressive.

Anyway, after using the left-side of my brain for my entire adult life, I am ready to explore my creative side and see what the right-side of my brain can do. I've been wanting to take up watercolor painting for the last seven years, but as life would have it, I never quite had (lets just say, made) the time to pursue it (I was quite busy teaching myself to play guitar). I also have an interest in drawing after having read the awesome book by Betty Edwards called "Drawing on the right side of the Brian" a few years ago. Taking up drawing as  a brain exercise really intrigued me.

After reading forum post from Nolan and Dennis about how important drawing is to the foundation of all art, that really stuck with me, so I decided to get serious and purchased the drawing course. I purchased the drawing course in September of 2016 with high hopes of teaching myself to draw. Yep, again, I never quite had (lets just say, made) the time to do the course.

This brings me to now. After a year of seeing all the great progress various PB members have been making in their own drawing journey, that motivated me to finally get serious and "re-start" my own journey. I'm at day four in the drawing course and building up momentum to steam ahead. I'm looking forward to each days' lesson. Having not really done much in art in the form of drawing or painting since high school (many moons ago), I'm taking the course at a slower pace than the day at a time. I really want to get the most out of it and build a solid foundation of skills. I'm hoping that by being an active member of the PB family, it will encourage and motivate me to continue my journey of becoming the artist I want to be.

As for what interest me. Currently, I'm interested in landscape and impressionism. My medium of interest is graphite, watercolor, and acrylic. I also have an interest in stained glass, but that's a discussion for another day. I hope to progress on to the painting classes after obtaining skills in drawing. I'm in no hurry though, and I'm in this for the long haul.

Thanks for reading, and sorry I was a bit long winded. I'm looking forward to participating in the PB forums, learning from you guys, and sharing my progress.

:thankyou: everyone for the warm welcome to the PB forum! I'm looking forward to my time here, and don't worry, I will have tons of questions to ask! And, I will post my progress as time permits.

Besides learning to draw, I think I'm going to be challenged with learning the in and out of using this forum as well.

I concur with everyone saying that this site is addictive. I've been addicted to it since I signed up. It feels good to be posting now, and officially starting on my journey. One of the reasons I purchased the Let's Draw course was all the positive feedback I read about how great Nolan and Dennis' teaching skills are.

Cheers,
Mark
