My newest gal "Rosemary" I worked with a black and white photo just working off the values adjusting my colors. I would love some comments and critiques.

I love the colourings and skin tones in this one. I also like how her hair seems to blend into the backgroung. Beautiful painting..... she looks vaguely familiar.....    looks a bit like a younger you!  :heeha:
Cheers, Val

Each portrait gets better and better.  Just love how you do those pouty lips!  Beautiful look to the red velvet.

Not sure if her neck is just the tiniest bit too narrow?

Thanks so much Val and Mea...  My hubby thought so too Val about a resemblance. Ohhh to be that young again!!! LOL

Mea I thought so too but it's the way her neck is turned and the hair is covering it. The hair naturally get's darkest their so it kind of looks funny. wonder if I can do something.

Perhaps a couple of stray curls?

This is very pretty and I agree with Val, for a second I thought it might be a self-portrait!

Thought the face on La Lionne was pretty good (although you need to narrow the top of the nose, as Patricia says - she has a good eye for detail, doesn't she?) But this is even better. You are improving with every painting. Reminds me of the portraits of the wife of one of our pioneer governors of Tasmania. Very evocative.

Very nice, and excellent skin tones. The subject has been lit from directly above which leaves spooky shadows around the eyes and chin. As an artist you can change the lighting! Imagine that the light is coming from the left or right and slightly above (I believe this is know as "The Rembrandt Lighting") it gives a much more natural look.
