Val-darker than the left shoulder currently is? The right one just has a light layer on it for now.

Personally, I like the lighter gray against the dark green background.

But you are doing well on this, Sharon.

I think this is great so far.  I like the texture in the jacket.

Sharon:  This is looking good.  I think you need some darker value changes to make the shoulder recede. The rounding of the collar needs to be darker.  You are doing great.

I think because you have decided to go with a grey colour a smoother finish to the jacket would be better. Personally I think the texture on the shoulder resembles the background texture too much.

Thank you Win, Kathy and Mary Lou! I'm doing the jacket textured for this first go around. If folks think it's too much texture with the background I'll definitely smooth it out. Hope to post something later today...I'll also work on darkening the collar rounding, Kathy...

Sharon

And here's the jacket. What do you think? Next up will be the tie. Do you think indigo blue? Navy blue? Crimson or maroon? The white spots could be a very pale yellow/cream. Would love your thoughts.

Sharon,

I love the gray jacket.  It has real fabric-like texture.  And the collar looks like velvet.

Does the hotel have a logo color that you could use for the tie?

Thanks, Mea! Took a lot of stippling to get that fabric look. I'll ask the hotel about the color. I'm leaning towards maroon. I know black was most popular then but I do love a pop of color!

:heeha: The jacket looks fabulous! Sorry I didn't get back sooner, internet....  :crazy2:   it's the Rio!  ::)     ;D

A deep maroon might be nice for the tie, I think that would still be in keeping with the era of dress. Coming on famously kid  :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

The jacket looks awesome, Sharon! Very realistic. I think marron would be a great choice for the tie. A nice complementary to the green background.

:thankyou: Val, Mea and EmmaLee! The hotel said they'd like a dark gray since mr Hopkins was a sober man. I've convinced them to let me try a dark maroon first. I can always paint over it with a dark gray if they don't like it. I'll try to do this tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Sharon
