This is from a photo taken off pixabay.  It is unfinished and been shelved for the time being .   Watercolour gets me heated as its not very forgiving in my hands  :pullhair:  I battle to do the shading needed. any advice welcome.

Win,

I kind of like it as is.  Looks like metal with a greenish patina and some pinkish light reflecting on it.

I don't know a thing about watercolors and I haven't seen your reference photo, but I agree with Mea. Your metal statue looks good the way it is now.  :)

    Win, you have done an EXCELLENT job with the statue.  If it is of Mother Mary, you can see the pain in her face. I think it is a superb painting.  Patricia

Oh Win - this is really good! You captured the face beautifully! I did a painting of a statue of Don Quixote once - it was so challenging to get the patina and the rust correct. You seem to have nailed that - as well as the draping of the cloth!

I'd love to see the reference photo to check out the hands and arms. Not sure if those need to be thinned down a bit.
Cheers,
Sharon

Thanks Kathy Mary Lou and Sharon for your comments.
Sharon I havent done the sleeves dress and arms Shading yet . You correct about the arms and hands. They are more in shadow and withthe needed shading will round them off a little instead of them being flat as they are. Unfortunately its landed up in storage as Im heading off to the UK for 5 months. I only do pencil work then. :-)

I like this Win  O0   Good colourings, as Sharon has said, they are not easy to get right. Yours is coming on beautifully. Look forward to seeing this when complete.

Have an excellent adventure in the UK. Hope you keep in touch and tell us about it  ;)   Bon Voyage!  :flight:
