Hello from Florida

Hello, everyone! I figured it is about time I post a welcome message, although I already feel so welcomed here.
I found this site when searching for drawing videos and found Nolan's on YouTube. For me, just learning how to use the different pencils was a big step! I figured I learned so much from what he offered for free that I would support him and purchase his drawing course.
Little did I know I would find such a cool family of artists here too.
I am in awe at the fantastic work I see from everyone.
I didn't think I could draw at all, but have always been interested. One day I was home sick and couldn't do much more than hold my iPad while I laid in bed. I found a program called Art Studio and played around with it. I got a picture of my dog Max that I put on one layer, and used it behind while I drew on a new layer and made a cool drawing of him with just my finger and the iPad. I was shocked at how it looked when I finished!
Ever since then I have been looking at drawing off and on. I am retiring in a few months and will have a lot of time to enjoy creating art. I look forward to spending more time here with you and learning from both Nolan and Dennis.
Here is the drawing that got me started. Say, "Hello," to Max.

Max looks delightful! Well done on your first drawing electronic or otherwise.
'Misti Vale' was the name of one of my brothers' bands many years back. Had a good giggle the first time I read your name.

Mysti,
We are so happy you found us. You are an official part of the PB family!
Yes, drawing is the key that unlocks everything. The Let's Draw Course opened up a whole new world for me as it did for you.
Hi, Max. You are so cute! Mysti captured your spirit.

Val! What a coincidence that your brother's band was just one letter off. Any chance he has something up on the Internet I could play?
Mea. I am so glad to be part of the PB family.

That would be a spelling mishap!
No, no video for us back then. Just an old reel to reel recorder. They did make a demo, no idea if that has survived through the years.

LOL! I thought it was intentional.
. Hey, it's his band's name, so he can spell it however he wants to.
I was thinking older like MySpace. Oh well. I would have loved to hear it.

We didn't have a computer back then either! I remember when I bought one of the first laptops.... it had a whopping 2MB of memory! WOW!!!

It is amazing how technology has changed. My first computer had 16K of memory. It was 4 times the previous computer and way more than you could ever need!

our first computer was a ZX Spectrum, also with 16k memory. We then upgraded to 48k and thought we were the bees knees
now you can't even create a blank doc without it being bigger than that

That is pretty cool! Mine was a Radio Shack brand TRS 80. Mine was the later model with the numeric keypad and a floppy drive.

I have not heard of the zx spectrum before, so I looked it up and found a kick starter for a new one. No idea if it is any good or not, but it looks interesting.
