This drawing has a similar theme to ''Prayer'', a mixed media work I've completed recently. I've combined some prehistoric objects, as well as a contemporary piece of jewelry (the one hanging on the right side) for more contrast. This piece was suposed to be a still life, but somehow I feel the entire drawing came out too ''still'' - it lacks something and it is too static, even a little boring. Is there anything I can do to improve it? Perhaps darkening the background a little more or adding some color would help? Thank you for looking and please let me know what you think.

What is making it look flat is the values are too close. It needs darker darks, and some bright highlights to give it dimension and better separation between the pieces. Very unique and interesting set up though!

Thank you for looking, Val. You are right, it needs more contrast (the photo also flattened the drawing a bit, I'll scan it next time). Glad you like the composition. I'll add some changes and will post it again.
