Lovely, much better than a photo for your travelling journal.
Cheers, Annie

Picked up my watercolors again this week, we've been too busy with running from Hurricane Irma and catching up on maintenance before now. We stumbled onto a beautiful Corps of Engineers park here in Foscue Alabama.
This is our view from the patio area outside our RV.

:heeha: Gorgeous Brian, both the view and your painting!      I'm almost ready to start venturing out in the dinghy to find some new vistas for my pastels. Should be interesting.... taking my w/c and a small pastel kit as well. No idea how this is going to work out but should prove interesting to say the least!  ::)   Just have to sort out some colours to finish off the kit.

It's going to take me some time to work up to your level of painting, but you give me something to strive for. Keep them coming!  :yippee:
Cheers, Val

Thanks Val!
I'm particularly proud of the trees in that one.
Mine have been green blobs, not very convincing trees, so I spent a couple of hours walking around the campground, looking at trees and taking pictures of them. When I sat down to paint I made my mind up that I was going to really concentrate on the trees.
They probably took me the longest, but I told myself when to stop so I didn't overpaint them.
I don't think the reflections are quite right, maybe that's what I need to work on next.

A lady at the Art League in Florida showed me her Dad's drawings, he was a professional illustrator.
She told me that when she told him she wanted to be an artist too, he told her about the tourist in New York who asked a local how to get to Carnegie Hall.
"Practice, Practice, Practice" said the man.

So go get the dinghy!

Oh, beautiful, Brian.  Controlled looseness! (Hope that was not an oxymoron).

Thanks MEA,
Controlled looseness, I like it!
I often wish I could paint in a very loose style, but my old drafting training holds me back.
Now that I'm feeling more relaxed working in watercolors and building layers of colors I think I gave have loosened up a bit. Sitting in the sunshine in such a pretty location doesn't hurt either!

Thanks Brian, shouldn't be too long now and I'll be out and about doing my early morning adventures again. Yes, practice is the key. Absolutely.  O0

Thanks Dennis,
Next time I paint reflections I'll use a straight edge to get things lined up.

The subtle desert sunset colors in Death Valley CA had me pulling out my WC sketch pad.
