We're staying with some friends in Gergal Spain near Granada. As a thank you I spent this afternoon painting the view from my friend Ken's favorite spot in their back yard so when they are back in England they can look up and be reminded of this beautiful place.

What a great gift! Is there anyway to lighten up some of the mountains in the background? They're all the same tone and the ones in the back should be lighter. Love the composition!!

Thanks Sharon and all,
The painting is 500 miles away now! I also enhanced the photo I took before I posted it so the colors aren't really true.
Ken loved it because I innocently asked him where his favorite spot in the house was and then painted it from there.
I always want to give people something for letting us stay with them,  they flat refuse money but a piece of art work just for them seems acceptable.

I agree about giving are in lieu of a payment - art lasts forever and represents amazing times. A few bucks is gone in a flash! Again, such a wonderful gift!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Having been busy travelling and not painting we stopped for 5 days in Switzerland to let me catch up.
The farm house belongs to a friend of Barbara from college days, they now live in France in a little village called Lissac in the Dordogne Area. The house dates to at least 1626 and they are deep into it's restauration.
The river scene is ina little Spanish town called Potes in the north of Spain where we stopped after arriving by ferry. It's in a pretty area "Pecos De Europa" which is a national park.
Still a lot of catching up to do though!

I'm learning so much about watercolors! My choice has been oils but there's no room in this tiny Rv for them. I bought a cheap WC set at Micheals, 50% off with a coupon!. I carry a WC pad, 2 shot glasses for water, a little pouch with 6 brushes, and a roll of masking tape in a small backpack. In a separate bag I have a selection of graphite and colored pencils and a sketch pad (almost full).
I always have my Fuji camera with me and 2 sets of batteries. I average about 120 pictures a day when we are being "touristy".
The farm house painting will get mailed to Bev as a thank you for having us.
Hopefully her grandson Elion (10) will catch the art bug as we sat and sketched together for a couple of hours.

I had to dash out and paint this this morning while Barbara was doing laundry !!
We're on the Mosel River in Germany and there are castles all along the river. This one just happened to be next to the campground we stopped at.
Colors are a little on the weak side and enhancing the photo didn't do much to add to the painting but I enjoyed it!
