I attended a 3 day workshop - all about emotional intelligence, meditation and other good things one could learn and master. Ofcourse there was a creativity corner to express emotions. This dove is one of my fast pastel sketches. The other two I would rather not present...🙄 too expressive...😅
It was so lovely to hold pastels in my fingers again. Just a fast sketch, but still sharing this with you.

Gita,  A wonderful way of expressing oneself -  especially if done quickly!   I like your dove of peace,  showing your artistic side and your emotion.

And like Val,  I am curious about the pastels.

Thank you so much Jillh, Win, mea, Cath.  :smitten:

It was interesting to see the mental result of the workshop. I sketched this on the last day. I opted to paint a subject which is symbolic for peace and harmony. Before, I did not believe in such workshops but now I think  development of emotional skills should begin even in schools.

Cath, Val,  these pastels powdered easily (not hard) and had a high pigment intensity ( I had to take care not to put too much colour and not to press hard!) I could smudge the colour easily on the paper. The colours were brilliant. It was a set of maybe 42 pastels? I had a good feeling with these. In fact, now I understand when Patricia and Fiona talk about pastels as "forgiving". :smiley6600:

I searched for the firm name "veng"  in google and amazon. Unfortuntely, could not trace it.  :P. But I was amazed to see that they sell pastels costing even upto $1600 (this was the girault 300 collection).

When I was in the US visiting a friend on the way back to Roatan, I did get to check out a few shops. I saw some sets that sold for over US$3,000.!!!   :cost:       :faint:    Won't be buying any of those too soon!    Wonder how much one would cost....   ::)    :2funny:

I bought a Mungyo set of 48 for Q94 which would be roughly US$12.  The 48 Staedtler were a bit more expensive but had beautiful rich colours and felt like velvet. Just love my pastels!  :smitten:   As you say, good enough for learning.  O0

Absolutely wonderful !

My only comment would be to put more contrast between the dove and the background... so it pop out and become a focal point.  Your "fast-sketch " is very close to a master painting in my eyes  O0

Thank you Patricia! Patricia, now I can watch your paintings with different eyes. Annie, you thrill me with your compliment. I shall try to apply your suggestion.
Val, so pastels could be costlier than Gold!   :o. My "Boesner" pastels were affordable, too. I could think of combining pastels with WC in future.
