Here is my digital chipmunk.  The lesson was on resizing.  This is one of those things easier to do digital, although there are some similarities to physical.

Here are the steps I used.
1) Download the lesson pdf to iBooks
2) Open the page to the image to be resized.
3) Pinch and zoom to resize until the part I want to draw fills the page
4) Press the Home and power buttons together to take a screenshot
5) Save the screenshot to photo library
6) Open sketchbook
7) Create a new document by importing from photos
 8) Copy the layer
9) Create a new blank layer
10) Pinch and twist it 90 degrees (Turn from Landscape to Portrait)
11) Paste the copied layer
12) Create a new layer and trace the chipmunk
13) Dupicate the traced layer
14) Hide all layers but the last one

At this point, the image is ready to use to begin drawing.

Mysti,

The drawing looks great, but those directions are daunting.

:thankyou:   Thank you, mea.  It sounds harder than it is.  This guy was a lot of fun to draw.  I found his nails were interesting.  I even added one just to do one more.

You have recreated the textures on the Koru drawing items beautifully Mysti :heeha: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
The squirrel looks great too :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

Tip - when you draw the pencil version, just be careful to not give him a path in the tail, rather gradually change your flick directions as you move from the top to bottom of the tail O0

:thankyou:  Nolan, Val, and Cath!  Nolan, I see what you are talking about.  By making a line, it makes his tail look like a feather.  Perhaps he just wanted to shake his tail feather.   :2funny:

I will fix the digital version too once the holidays are past.

I found some time to work on the chipmunk.  I de-feathered his tail and did a little touch up on his left hand and foot.

Old one for comparison

Well, now I see I gave him a beaver tail.  No fluff at all.

A little fluff added and a final touch up on his left hand.  I also lightened the dark spot above his left leg.

:2funny: That was my first thought as well! 'Uh-oh...beaver tail!'   If you look at the base of his tail (by the back of the body), you've used lovely long sweeping hairs. That's what you need for the rest of the tail. Otherwise looking great.  O0

:thankyou:  Mea and Val!  Who knew a tail would be so hard?  I will work on it again as soon as I get drawing time.
