I got my new iPad Pro 10.5 with Apple Pencil yesterday.  I have been having fun setting up my shiny new toy.  Tonight I got back to work and did the stroke Exercises on it.  I was amazed at how similar it felt to drawing with a real pencil.

Here's my digital version of the stroke Exercises.

Mysti,

Your digital stroke exercises look good, but I haven't the slightest idea of how you are doing it.

:heeha: The curve exercises look much better! Is it due to the smoother surface plus the stylus do you think? Looks like you really bought a treat!

Val, I think you are on to something.  The smoother surface is easier to work with, and at this point every little bit of help makes a difference.  I also used the undo function a few times when I had some very bad lines and curves done.  When I did the exercise on paper, I did not erase anything.

Mea,
I am using a digital pencil and drawing on an iPad, which is in effect drawing on glass.  Here's a picture of me with the finished assignment.

I appreciate the encouragement from both of you.  :)

That is so cool! I've never seen a pad like that.... but then we don't see much in that sort of thing. Have to go to the big cities for that.

I think you are going to have a great deal of fun with that.  You can do a manual version of your lessons, and a digital version! Doing two versions has got to a big accelerator to your artwork I would think. Twice the homework though!  ;)        ;D

Hi, Val.  Yes, it is very cool.  I don't mind double the homework.  This is one of those rare times when homework is fun!

I got the landscape done on paper tonight.  I have never worked with a soft pencil before.  I was surprised at how often I had to sharpen it. It really is quite different from using a #2 pencil with a pink eraser attached.

Great job, Mysti.

I love to call that the INSTANT ARTIST drawing.  It made me really feel like an artist when I did it.

Interesting technology there.  I have trouble figuring out my IPhone, so I am not sure I could handle digital art.

I give you credit for trying.

Thank you for the encouragement!   :thankyou:  it means a lot.

I got a digital version done, then accidentally deleted it.   :uglystupid2:  <-- That emoji felt better than me.  I did it again, though.  This time I tried to add some dimension to the mountains and boat.  It was fun and I am glad I did it again.

Thanks, Val.  I agree.  I think my drawing is better on the digital one, but there is something about the paper one that looks a lot better.  Maybe the background is too stark white on the digital one.  It could be the size difference too.  I'll check into changing both of those.

Tonal chart is done.  Now to get it laminated.  I can see where this will come in handy.  Or pencily. 😀

Tonal charts come in very handy no matter what medium you chose.  O0

I am going to make a digital version too.  Those little Digital pencil buggers seem a different tone than their physical counterparts.  Hopefully I can get them to tone it down a bit.  Muh ha ha.
