I'm still in the planning stage. Going to my gouache on this one.

Mea, even if my w/c goes south  ::) ... I might just get really silly and try the pastels!  :eyesclosed:      :2funny:

Val, I too, feel more comfortable with pastels because I tend to have more control of the colours but I haven't finally decided which medium to use.  :crazy2:

Might make a start today.... too hot to do anything else.  42C (108F)         Of course that would be assuming my printer ink cartridge hasn't dried up yet again!  :faint:

Geez, Val, we just don't realise what you have to contend with living in such heat and print cartridges aren't cheap either.  I hope that everything is O.K. and that the weather cools down just a little to make it comfortable for you.

:-* Thanks for that Patricia, should be better today..... only 34C (99F), finally below 100!!!  :yippee:   We are in transition here, start of the rainy season and hurricane season. Having jungle on the doorstep does tend to make things a bit steamy!    But I love it!  :smitten:

This looks like fun! I may have to set aside my current WIP to have a go at this. Val, would a macro (close-up) be acceptable?

Okay, I spent all day on #1. Botched it.   :knuppel2: Probably not a good idea to use staining colors.   Talk about a learning experience!  :-X I'll draw attempt #2 and have another go at this tomorrow.

 I understand the staining colours..... I did that on attempt #1!My big problem on #2 was opacity. You really can't create luminosity with opaque colours!    So,  I made a list of my paints with their staining and opacity properties so hope not to make those mistakes again.

I know I have short term memory glitches  , but crikey you'd think I'd have remembered something! :2funny:

OK, folks.  I gave it a go, but have placed it in the Watercolor Encourager Section in Mea's Gouache Gallery.

I did it in gouache on Strathmore 140lb. watercolor paper and used only one brush - Escoda PRADO #8.

It is a challenge.

This was truly a challenge, Val.  I tried this in watercolor on Arches 140 lb paper.  Probably the most challenging painting I have done in a while.

You've done a such a great job it would be tempting to copy yours instead of using the ref photo.
