I originally did this bird as the May Drawing Challenge, but realized I had posted it too soon.  I needed to go back over it to get the contrasts better.

I feel much better about it now and that I truly GET the values concept.

Ooops, now that it is posted, I see that the right side of the drawing is lighter than the left.  Rather than take the photo again and reenter it in the gallery, I am just going to pretend that the right side is in a sun-filled open clearing in the woods.

:flowers: :flowers: :flowers: Your drawing is perfect; your bird is so strikingly handsome in detail; and the light contrast you mentioned makes it all the more perfect!!!  Aren't you glad you got a head start with all that drawing on your bus trips?  I love your side of the island!!!  :smitten: ~Liz

Values really do make all the difference in the world. You've showed off his features and made him stand out nicely.  O0

Well done.

Thank, Liz and Val.

Yes, I really feel that all my practice is paying off.

Rode the bus yesterday and was sketching a nun, but she got off the bus before I could finish.

Mea, I am so sorry that you withdrew your drawing from the challenge as you did a beautiful job and stood an excellent chance.  I feel disappointed.

Thank you, Patricia.

I am pleased that I could recognize where it needed to be improved and it was important for me to fix it.

Thanks, Win.

Main thing is that I challenged myself to do it and was pleased with the outcome.

 It is good when one sees where to improve one's effort oneself - But it is disappointing that you pulled it out of the challenge, Mea.
