Kookaburra
« on: May 19, 2017, 02:25:06 AM »
My father-in-law is turning 90yrs next week. He has worked on properties and had been a sheep farmer before selling his own property and movied into town. But is now fairly disabled and lives in a nursing home.  I thought I would paint him a birthday card. So i decided on a kookaburra which is often found in the Australian bush. I researched the internet and found a good picture which I used to paint this in watercolour.

I'm sure he'll love his personalized birthday card. It will no doubt trigger many happy memories and a few yarns. As Val said, they are quite naughty sometimes, stealing the biggest chop off the barbecue plate, and one even flew in through our open backdoor and took a beakful of my mother's freshly cooked steamed pudding! I love the painting.

Thank you Linley, EmmaLee, Gita, Mea and Patricia.

We will be visiting on Saturday and he didn't want any presents as he doesn't have much space inhis room.  This is like a present from my heart.
