Cyril, I love the fact you draw real people, not just idealized beauties. You have captured something of the character and mood of each person. I particularly like the portrait of your father.

Cyril.

I love these portrait sketches.  The one of your dad is so very special.  I hope he continues to improve.  He must be so proud of your artwork.

You did a great job of the woman in colored pencil.  Great blending.  She looks so real.

You've inspired me to try some portrait sketches today.

Your fathers sketch is so touching Cyril. The other sketches also make me feel I have to take out my graphites again :smiley6600:

:thankyou: so much for your comments  Linley , Mea , Val and Gita.

Due to busy work schedule  , I get very less time to paint however I do have my sketchbook to practise all the techniques learnt so far  :)...

Cyril--I am really drawn to the portrait of your father.  Not only great proportion but you captured his mood.  Love the way that you made the face so much more important than the body but you still give us enough of the gesture that helps us know him.

Cyril, this type of sketching is really improving your art    You are busy building the strongest foundation there is to art.  O0 Keep it up. I did a tremendous amount of sketching from life and en plein air when I was younger. Hand and eye co-ordination is of utmost importance. Way to go

Paper is Paper  ;)
Actually, I know a few artists who practice first with pastels on newspaper before painting the final on more expensive paper.
