Susan and I share a favorite photographer on PMP - Viachislav. When friends were asking me if I could paint something more abstract, I went right to Viachislav's gallery and found the reference photo for this painting.  It's quite a departure from my normal style, but heck - if it's what the public wants...! Any thoughts about this? It's truly not my style, but it was fun to do something different.
Cheers,
Sharon

Hmmmm.... yup, Sharon, it's different from what you usually do.

I like the creamy background part and the apple.  The vase is "interesting."

Well done Sharon. I'm not a big abstactionistic (just made that up) artist myself. But once in a while it is fun to just fly off the rails as it were. Hence now and again things appear like my triangle painting.

I like the 'checkerboard' effect showing through the vase, the distortion really sets off the crispness of the apple. Very good.  O0

Thanks Annie and Val! I remember when I took Dennis' abstract WC classes and how I enjoyed learning a different style, even if it wasn't one I'd use much. I like your new word, Val - abstractionist! You should paint that word inside one of your triangles!

Sharon

:thankyou: fotograffiti and Susan (love your new avatar photo, by the way!) And for me, this apple is pretty abstract! I'm more of a realism painter...a red dot wouldn't do it for me, either!!  :2funny: :2funny:

I like this.  I like the stark black and white and then the red apple.  It is different for you but you have done it very well!!

:thankyou: Mary Lou! I'm looking forward to trying a few more in this style - it was fun and actually a lot easier than my detailed/realistic paintings!

Not an abstactionistic either  :2funny:, I have to ask my subconscious mind about my opinion to this. That could  take some time....
The apple is good, the vase has a nice twist to it. I would have put a realistic flower into it as a contrast.

That's hysterical about the Judith!!  :2funny: Of course an enormous canvas painted red and that's it is kinda funny too!

Gita - I'll try a flower the next time!

Thank, Fiona! And Annie - we all need to create a Voice of Fire - can't believe it's worth $40MM now!
