Beautiful painting.  I love O'Keefe style... probably her skulls are what I find attractive.

I have painted a skull, no cactus, based on one of her painting but without the flower she had in her original painting.  Wonder if I can post it if I say it was a 'study painting'... but then again I don't want to venture in the gray zone of copyright laws.
Cheers, Annie

Thanks, Annie! And if you're not planning on selling your painting, do post it. No copy right issues to be concerned about!
Cheers,
Sharon

And this painting has sold - and it's now called "Cactus & Skull"! It was part of my email blast that went out today about my art show tomorrow, and someone emailed me just now to buy it, sight unseen!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Well that show was a bust! Spent 9 hours there’s - 9 loooong hours - and only sold 3 sets of coasters. There’s is a possibility of 2 painting sales, but I’m not holding my breath. Learned a good lesson - never be in an art show where I’m the supporting act. This event was primarily a chance for bank customers to meet the CEO. No one wanted to buy art. That was during the evening reception. During the work day it became obvious that no one comes to a bank to buy art - and my friends won’t come to a bank to do that either.

On a positive note, my financial advisor sent me an email asking to buy 10 sets of coasters and a friend from Puerto Vallarta sent me payment to buy 3 sets, too. And there are now lots of paintngs in my inventory for some small shows I’m in during December.

Oh well. Live and learn.
Cheers,
Sharon

Hmmm...as you say, Sharon, it was a learning experience.  We can also benefit from your experience.

Happy that the coaster sales are moving right along.  I use mine every night and think of you.

Thanks, Mea! I just ordered 300 more coasters due to the demand!

What bothered me most about last night is the woman who invited me to have the show, a bank executive, walked around and pointed out her favorite paintngs. But bought nothing. She didn’t even buy a set of coasters. And since 15% of all art sales were being donated to the banks foundation by me, it was disapppinting that not one person from the bank bought a painting so their foundation could benefit. Again, a big learning experience.
Cheers,
Sharon

That’s true, Val - and confirms the importance of pre-marketing my shows. I just hope I haven’t broken your crystal ball!!

:o Tough going.  :( Rude of the organization not to promote you more since you were supporting their event. Infuriating, deflating, disappointing .... time consuming....  But who knows... maybe nobody bought at the show but perhaps your name will register and bring in customers to other events. :gl2: for the future.

I love your positive perspective Linley - thank you for that!!! The lady from the bank yesterday sent me an email apologizing for the lack of sales from her team/customers. She realizes she should have done a better job promoting the art sales. Anyway, you live and you learn. Now onward ho!
Cheers,
Sharon
