I had started this painting in December when an attack in a Berlin christmas fair happened. The general mood was depressed. I finally managed to finish this during the Easter days.
Painted with WC ( 3 colours) and some pencils for the hair.

This is a homage to the grieving due to war, disease and hunger.

Gita,

So beautiful!

If you had just a hint of the forearm attached to the hand on the left side of the painting, it would make the hand look more attached.

Otherwise, it's very good.

Thank you Win, Kathy, Mea.

The painting is maybe a bit too sad. I had started in December and was unable to finish. Managed finally on good friday. Painting this theme on good friday surely suited the spirituality of the day. I did this in complete silence.
Mea trying to correct the hand. A bit difficult to lift of colour since this is sketch paper.

Anyway, time to paint our optimistic flowers and gardens which suit the spring!  :smiley6600:

Such a moving painting - and so well executed. Don't worry about it being too sad - it's a reflection of real life and so meaningful...
Cheers,
Sharon

Thank you Emma Lee, Sharon. :smiley6600:

I agree, painting is a nonverbal way of expressing ones emotions and thoughts. A very good follower of my paintings and a art expert says, he hangs an art work in his home and let its influence work on his emotions. According to his opinion an art work has a message to tell. Only after this influence, he expresses his opinion.

In this particular painting, he was a little surprised, that an art work of mine has a completely different emotional  expression than he is usually used to.

In fact, I am surprised, too

Sad or happy or serene or hectic does not matter,  its when you are able to capture the emotion intended in a painting/drawing that makes it a great picture.  Thats what I like most when looking at paintings, not just the visual effect but the emotional feeling it conveys.  :)

Gita, this is a fabulous painting! The emotion it portrays is raw emotion. We rarely see that anymore with everything so plastic. I love this though it saddened me.

Thank you Robynann. I am touched by your words. I hope your health is getting better.
This painting could deepen existing emotions. I am sorry.
Take a look at the spring pen and ink. :1hug: That's a cheerful one.
Wish you again a speedy recovery. I am hesitant to ask too many questions on a public platform. Btw, I love your special way of painting beautiful women!
