Had problems because the reference photo was all washed out. Could just barely see the lights and darks on her face. I should have used my artists license and moved her left eye over some. Using my tablet's camera and it's horrible. My camera broke. Ordering me a new one soon. I'm still working on blending the face. I think I finally got the hang of it a bit better. This is a 16x20 canvas. Next I think I need to work on hands and arms. Critiques welcomed

I love the backgound.

The hands have a pretty good shape.  Once you had shadows, they will look good.

The white flower in the middle of her forehead needs a bit of shadow under it so it will stand out better.

I love her pouty lips.

Good going so far.

Thanks Mea , it's such a bad photo of her I'm kind of embarrassed. She looks better in person. I was wondering about a shadow under those yellow flowers so far down on her forehead . It would just be very small right? I can't wait to order me a new digital camera! This is terrible! Those yellow flowers are showing up as white I know. I used Naples yellow. I did want a pale yellow The photo doesn't do the hair justice at all! It's not showing my mid tones. Same on the tree. I did try to fix it in Paint Shop Pro but really couldn't do much.

Thanks fotograffiti..

Hubby just told me I can order the camera mid week! yeeeehaaaa!! :yippee:

Robynann,

Then it may be that the flowers will look fine as they are once the photography is better.

No worries.  Sounds like all will be okay soon.

It has an ethereal quality to it Robynann, my only suggestion would be to look at the straight line of her hair down her neck and arm, perhaps add a few fly away strands of hair  :)

Have you tried to adjust the brightness on the reference photo?
