Nolan I have a general question about pencils is this the correct place to ask. I found I was not getting the correct tone with the pencils I was using. I bought a set of Faber Castell. However it doesn't have an H pencil. Do I use the 2H as it is the next pencil down until I get a H.

Hi Ena, I've never had an 'H' pencil. Work with what you have and just use the next pencil up or down to achieve the tone you are after.

You'll find between different brands leads with the same hardness will differ from each other. Once you find a brand you like working with, stick with it.
Cheers, Val

Aloha, ENA,  I use 2H mostly even when I have a bunch of pencils.  I found that I can easily draw with a light hand or press a little harder and get darker values.  The most important thing is to sharpen your pencils and don't draw down to the nub and expect fine lines and good detail.  I look for sharpened pencils and use them until I have none left!  ::) ~Liz
