Update on this painting: Last night, the museum held their event, Big Names, Small Art. My painting was in the first Auction Table (there are 4 tables - I prefer to go first so we can leave earlier and I'm not spending the entire evening stressing out if someone is going to buy my painting!) Good news - there was a bidding war at the end and this little painting that I valued at $175 sold for $300! The buyer is the head of one of our biggest investment firms in town. 100% of the proceeds go to the museum - and I got a lot of credibility - and possibly a baby commission!

Thanks again for everyone's input!
Cheers,
Sharon

I went to visit my sister and her husband in Denver. (I live near Raleigh, NC.) It was a good visit, especially our 1700-mile road trip (in 4 days!) during which we visited the Grand Canyon + 3 other national parks in Utah, none of which I'd never seen. Glad to be home now. But I have some amazing reference photos!

Thanks, EmmaLee! And what a fun vacation you had, Susan! You sure covered a lot of ground in a short time! It's been years since I visited the Grand Canyon, but I still recall how spectacular it was! Can't wait to see what paintings evolve from your trip!
Cheers,
Sharon

Oh! Sharon, how exciting.  I remember that painting so well as I always admired your brilliant backgrounds which make the painting's focal point stand out.  Hearty congratulations.

Sharon, in my humble opinion, I think you are the background queen.  Your backgrounds are always vibrant and eye catching and I love them. Wish I could take a leaf out of your book for I am so background challenged, it isn't even funny.

What a lovely compliment, Patricia - thank you! The more color the better, I say - so just try it next time - you can always paint over it if you don't like it!
Cheers,
Sharon
