Don't forget to glaze the cast shadows in once the background is dry and before you start on the spoons O0

start off by painting a bunch of random red dots, then shade them, then add say a bunch of black ones, not being shy to overlap previous ones, shade them, and so on until the spoon is full O0

Looks like you have the techniques down to do a good job on this, Neil.  I think you did well with the random placement of the salt granules but the shape needs to be more of a blockish shape.

It is helpful to us when you share your progress like this.

it's looking great Neil.

What you want to do now is darken the gaps between the peppercorn to show the depth.

This painting is a LOT of work, but keep at it, you are doing great O0

All finished phew it's been my biggest challenge so far, first still life very enjoyable thanks for all the support during the conniptions particularly to Nolan who helped me so much.
May hang it in the kitchen but more likely the downstairs loo  :thankyou:  :thankyou:  :thankyou: :thankyou:

Good for you, Neil.  You took on quite a challenge and saw it through quite well.

Especially love the peppercorns in the spoon.  Each one looks distinct.
