The vessel's epirb/gpirb was found washed up on a beach by the Mexican CG. As of yet no sign of them or the boat. I am finding this bit of news rather ominous. Still, one has to keep their hopes up.

Definitely ominous. Had the epirb been activated? Sounds awfully like they might have been run down by a ship or hit floating debris with catastrophic consequences. Still, as you say, fingers crossed....

Oh, Val, how horrible.  So sad not knowing what happened.

Hoping for a miracle.

We are all hoping for positive news, but it is looking grim. Heartsick for their son and daughter.

Oh dear... This is close to home for me... My friend/partner won't carry either a radio or a telephone so I never know if he's safe until he turns up at my house, wretched man! When I sailed with him we had so many close calls, including a couple of near collisions with ships and near wrecks due to gear failure. These days he only sails locally but things still go wrong even in local waters.  So I can imagine just how bad you are feeling about all this. So sorry to hear the news Val. My condolences for what they are worth...
Living on the ocean is living out of our natural element and a vulnerable lifestyle, even though it's mostly an exciting an fulfilling one. Please be safe yourselves.....We couldn't do without you.

Thank you Dennis. We know as beautiful as the sea is, she can be a violent and cruel mistress. She commands deep respect and is not for the foolish or faint of heart.

Linley, close to home is the rub. They were within two hours of their destination and safe harbour in Ensenada. We will most likely never know what happened as no trace of the boat has been found.

Oh! What distressing news Val. My heartfelt condolences. I just wish that these horrible things which are presently so prevalent, would stop happening but I guess that is life, it is how we handle it, that is important. Just be sure to take care of yourselves.
