Used to live in New Orleans many many years ago. Worked on Bourbon Street in a bar called, The Red Garter. Lived on Decatur Street above Bonaparte's Bar.
Used to eat Beignets with coffee a few times a week. YUMMY
Sure hope you're enjoying yourself.

Val, I have been so nervous to ask where you are at present with the horrible Hurricane Irma. I pray you and Lloyd are safe and still in New Orleans. I am also worried about Puddle Jumper.  Pray that all is O.K.

 So sorry Patricia, I have just been busy trying to keep the challenges and photos sorted, I hadn't even thought to update anything here. We are just north of New Orleans in Prairieville. All is well here.

PJ is safely tucked up on the Rio Dulce in Guatemala awaiting our return. We are scheduled to fly out of New Orleans this coming Thursday. Our connecting flight is in Atlanta so will have to wait and see what happens with Irma up there. Not expecting any real delays but as I said it will be a wait and see. Biggest problem is getting all this 'stuff' packed!     Thery're going to love me at the airport this year!  :2funny:
Cheers, Val

:thankyou:  for your response to my message Val. I am relieved to hear that you are still in New Orleans and that you and Lloyd are safe as is Puddle Jumper.  What a relief!!!  Just keep safe always.

We are due to go to Myrtle Beach next Friday 15th for a week and I have tried to persuade my husband to delay the trip for a week or two but he is adamant ... golf comes first!!  Just hope that the weather has settled by that time.

Thanks once again for putting my mind at rest and safe travels.

:) Happy to have found you here, VAL!  So glad to find you here and learn that you're high and dry!  Pat evacuated from Daytona and I haven't heard back from him yet. God bless you! -Liz

Just noticed my photo of 'contraband' didn't post.  Will try getting it up later. Everything is packed away ready for take off early tomorrow morning.

:heeha:   Customs should be fun.... had only one bag checked  and two carry-ons coming down.... Three checked bags, four carry-ons and an extra going back!     After all.... it's my first real art supply run in 3 years!   :cost: :2funny:

Lloyd does have one bag of stuff.... and there is some boat stuff too...  ;)
Cheers, Val

Bon voyage, Val! Glad you're returning with a full load, lots of art supplies, and leaving when the weather has calmed down. Can't wait to hear some updates from your boat!
Cheers,
Sharon

 :)  Safe travel.
Sure wish we could send you a little love art parcel once in a while.

I may be in New Orleans in Dec, never been there and would love to go especially after I read of your adventure.  Invited and trying to fit it in my schedule... maybe.  Been in San Antonio few times in Dec and I love eating lunch outside.  No Canadian have the concept of having lunch on an outside terrace in DECEMBER!!!
Cheers, Annie

:flight:   Arrived back in Guat. City yesterday afternoon. What a trip! More about that when I get back aboard PJ.

The crowds were already out celebrating in the streets yesterday when we arrived. Horns blowing, parade, bands, music playing! Wow, they really missed me!  :heeha:     :2funny:
Actually, it is Independence Day here in Guatemala...Mexico, basically all of Spanish Central America!  :yippee: We will be staying here in the city until Saturday, chances of getting through to the Rio would be a nightmare with all of the ceremonies and parties going on! Will dig out my camera and hit the streets today and see who/what I can capture.
Cheers, Val
