I don't know what it is Patricia but it had me reminiscing of a time when I had pneumonia. If it doesn't clear off over next couple of days I'll be paying a visit to the clinic in town.
Cheers, Val

Thanks Linley. I am mindful of the various ingredients in some of the pastels. I'm always aware of the makeup of my w/c paints as well as I often had some of the local children come to my classes. I'm hoping to do more of that through the hurricane season this year. Great fun!  :heeha:   Keep that in mind as well if you have 'helpful' pets when you draw or paint.  O0

Always a good reminder Linley,  :thankyou:

While I'm waiting for the 'Mist in the Valley' lesson (8 more days!  :goofy: ) to open, I thought I'd post a couple of photos from our recent trip to Antigua.

Volcan Agua (dormant)

Volcan Fuego (Active!  :heeha: )

Valcan Fuego Close-Up

These were taken from our private rooftop terrace at the apt. we stayed in. Will have to load more photos, only 1,000 in first four days!  :2funny:
Cheers, Val

[snip] We were scrounging from anyone who had it. Cups of tea and coffee were strictly rationed and all meals were cold, or as cold as you can get in the sub-tropics.  Supplies came in every two weeks by barge, but we had to wait for 3 barges before a supply finally arrived! The local supermarket were really curious as to why we were so desperate to get it.. and looked really shocked when I said we used it for cooking... they thought we used it as a sauce!   ???

Bet they were wondering how you could use that much sauce..... ;)

:flowers:  Get well soon.  Do be careful with the dust from the pastels, Val. We don't want you to end up with" Artist's Lung".....I'm quite serious... It's not only the filler/medium that creates the dust, there are also some very carcinogenic chemicals in the pastels. Many potters who used similar dusts while mixing glazes have died of aggressive lung cancers. Some of my favourite artists, so sad. Use a vacuum cleaner if you can, don't sweep.

Indeed.  I was warned about pastel dust, years ago, by my old oils instructor.  The dust killed several of his friends who worked in it.

As long as it only waves from a distance....that kind of wave is a bit like the tail of a Labrador near a low slung coffee table in an old lady's lounge room. ;D

Shame we missed the lava flow... it decided to throw that show the day before we got there. Lloyd said that was my fault....I was supposed to have been there for my birthday. That would have been quite the welcome! Better than fireworks!  :2funny:

Some days there was so much ash in the air it was hard to see any of the volcanoes or mountains. Quite spectacular non the less.  :heeha:

We had our first day off the boat in over a week! Mind it was to go to town and hunt down a new inverter/charger as ours went 'poof' in one of our nightly thunderstorms. The lightning has been incredible! :eyesclosed:

We came up empty handed but one fellow in town may be able to get us one within a couple of weeks.... but OY! the price!!!  :cost:    :faint: May have to dig into my art fund.  :'( But no power....no daylight lamp, no daylight lamp, no night time artwork. Can't have that so I guess the cause is just.  ;)     ;D

Lloyd took me to lunch to ease the pain.... and blow me didn't I get bitten by one of those nasty bitey bugs just below my jaw and wham... the side of my face blew up like Harry Potter's aunt!

Back onboard now and loaded up with antihistamines.    Kind of makes all the artwork look funny 'cause my glasses are all skewed!       :2funny:
Cheers, Val

Ohm NOOOOO! Double-NO. No charger + Nasty Bitey Bug.  :o I hope the antihistamines work quickly, Val. (You're sure this isn't an excuse for getting out of the June Special Challenge?)
