Another one of my paintings that I made up....
Had the idea and used texture to make the walls of the alley way. I am so glad Dennis told me about the rule! I hope that the viewer feels as if they are following her into the light.

Love this painting. You have some wonderful ideas.
the only thing that troubles me is the arch of light above her head with the darker line underneath it. it looks a bit like a hat.

Terri,

I love the neutral greys with the bright red accent.  Dramatic with an air of mystery.

Not sure about the shape over the girl's head.  Looks like an oversized old-fashioned nurse's cap. (I have a vivid imagination.)

:flowers: :flowers: :flowers: TERRI, I love your adventures of creativity and the imaginative mind!  We all should aspire to be free to create and display our unique gifts the way you do!  Besides art's therapeutic value for me, I hope to one day try painting from my imagination also, plus paint haunting dreams and spiritual visions, but I don't know enough about painting figures and such yet.

Thank you all for your comments.
Mea, I am an 'Old Nurse' and I used to wear a veil.....I don't think it looks anything like that! They were such a pain to wear. I wanted it to look like her hair is flying out as she walks.
I value your opinions but I am a little hurt to be honest.
I don't think the arch looks like a hat either....I was trying to give it some distance and depth.

Tezza, please don't be hurt. Honest opinion was given and no bad intended.
Just move the arch higher up from the head and the problem will be solved as it is a bit too close to the head and tends to be part of the head. :flowers:

Terri,

I am so sorry that my observation was not well stated and I certainly did not mean to hurt your feelings.  I wore a nurse's cap that had the wings that went out in the back and that's what I was thinking.  As others have seen, I see shapes in paintings that aren't always obvious to others.

I am a true admirer of your work.  You have shown incredible progress with every painting.

A lesson learned for me!

Dear Terri,

Sorry if i offended you too :flowers:, but this is what i saw in your painting above her head and at times it is not always seen by the painter.

As Dennis said it was not intended to hurt your feelings.

We all joined this Paint Basket site for help and that is what we are doing when we put up our paintings. At times we may be judged and not always praised.

:thankyou: Dianne for your kind comments.

Dennis, thank you. I actually can't move the arch...it's very thick texture paste. I suppose I can make the girls head a little smaller.
Mea and Teresa, thank you.
I don't want to come across as being precious here. I value and don't get upset by criticism usually. It was just the way it was put forward that hurt my feelings.

I have never expected to be praised continually about my paintings. I am still learning so it is vital to recieve constructive criticism.
I am very thankful that Paintbasket members take the time to look at my paintings and give me their opinions.
