This is very pretty Terri.  My concern is that the pier looks as if it is standing upright, yet the perspective seems to be correct.  So I covered the the bottom on the painting and it looks completely correct.  I think the blue portion before the pier has thrown off the eye.  If you carry the pier to the bottom on the painting, I think it would appear to lay flat rather than standing up.  I hope that I have explained this properly.

To flatten the pier - grade it from dark to light towards the end of the pier. Don't physically change the pier.
Remember this principle - generally, everything get lighter and cooler in color as it recedes into the distance.

Lovely painting, Terri.

Dennis had good advice, but I think you need to make the the closer end of the pier even darker.  Your BEFORE and AFTER photos still look pretty much the same to me.

Other than that, it is really well done.   Great boat.

I agree with Mea, the pier looks the same to me... but  once it is made to look flat, it will be a good painting.
