Here is the last drawing of this mini-series (I plan to do two others on the same theme, but after I'll learn some basics about colored pencils/pastel pencils).
This is my interpretation of Garuda, the legendary bird from Hindu and Buddhist mythology. This creature represents the national symbol of Indonesia, so I thought it would be a good subject for the last piece of this project.
I'm trying to improve my skills regarding the technique of white pencil on black paper with each drawing, so any advice would be appreciated.

Rebeca,

I am in awe of your work.  You must have to sharpen your pencils every couple minutes to make such exact lines.

Curious - what is the size of this and how long did it take to do it?

Rebecca---- wonderful!! I put your work as my background picture on my Ihone- hope you allow me to do this. Your work is brilliant!!  :cheering: :cheering: I see the Garuda every time I use my IPhone.
Tell me/us more about the technique. How did you get the greys? What paper did you use? What pencil? Tell me , tell me....

Thank you very much, Mea, Steve, Maria, Val, Gita, Teresa!
Mea, you are right, I'm still getting used to sharpening my pencils every 5 minutes (especially the white, which has a very soft lead). This drawing was made on an A4. I've worked on it a couple of hours each day for a week, I estimate that all the process took 10-12 hours. Perhaps it shouldn't have took that long, but I work at a slower pace, especially when using pencils.
Gita, your comment really made my day!  :smitten: I'm really happy you liked my drawing that much. Sure, you can use it as a background.
For this one I've used the Derwent black paper, Derwent Drawing white pencil (I like very much its vibrant pigment, high opacity and creamy texture) and the blacks from Derwent Drawing and Polychromos.  For the greys I worked with two pencils from Derwent Coloursoft range (the Steel grey - lighter and Mid grey - darker, to be more precise), as well as dark blue from Derwent Drawing and Silver watercolour pencil from Faber Castell for the highlights on the jewelry.
