Mary Lou, this is beautiful.  Your daisies are lively and seem to be dancing.

:thankyou:  Dennis for a very interesting and somewhat challenging class which was so enjoyable. Comments and critiques are always much appreciated.    Patricia

Here is my revised painting with a darker background.

:thankyou:  once again Sharon for your critique and yes, it certainly looks better with the background darkened. I always refer to you as our "Background Queen" and you are right it makes the flowers pop.  Thank you again.

Nice job on this flower painting, Patricia - it's harder to do than it looks! Your flowers are spot on! My only suggestion is to darken the darks in the water and around the back of flowers. Take a look at Dennis' and you'll see what I mean. It will make a better contrast to the reflections...and your gorgeous flowers will pop even more!
Cheers,
Sharon

:thankyou: Sharon, I am always nervous about going too dark but I can see what you mean and I will darken the background for sure.

:thankyou:  Val for your lovely comments.

Sharon, when comparing the two paintings, it is amazing how the darker background makes the flowers look alive. It never fails to amaze me.  Thanks so much again and again.
