Mea, I like the Background as it is. A darker background might attract attention away from the Orchids-
Like in the Lotus revised which I have presented. At least that's what I think....

Thank you Danielle, Val, and Gita.

It is going to get framed and entered into the next exhibit.

Your orchards are lovely Mea and so nicely painted. The background almost looks like Marble with the colour of orchards reflected on it.  I say send it to the framers  :)

Here's another orchid from the show recently.  It's the Lady Rothschild orchid.

Gouache made it easy to make multiple tweaks on this to get it to look better.  Am still open to more input to make it even better.

Trying to decide whether to put it in an exhibit this weekend (where the curator is named Rothschild) or wait until May for the big show at Honolulu City Hall.

Am pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks, Steve and Val.

I just got word that the Hawaii Watercolor Society will allow me to enter a gouache in their spring show.  No one has ever entered a gouache painting in their shows before.

Problem is -- I'll have to have one done by Friday!

Better get started!

Great news Mea! I think you can do the Lady Rothschild equally good in WC, too. This one in Gouache has come out very beautifully. Looking forward to further paintings.

Thanks, Gita.  Not sure if I'll do that or a different type of painting - maybe a Hawaii scene.

Thanks, Dennis, EmmaLee, and Fiona.

Am going to scan my IDEA file this morning to find something to paint next.

I needed a quick greeting card for an abstract artist.  I used my gouache paints: dioxazine purple, yellow ochre (with a bit of orange), and Viridian green.

One thing I can say about doing abstract is that it is quick!  No fussy details.

This is a "kolea" (golden plover).  He is wearing his Tuxedo (mating feathers).

I am entering this in the spring exhibit of the Hawaii Watercolor Society.  Hope the juror accepts it.  I did have to check to see if they would accept gouache - they will.  It is 11 x 14 inches.

I like my bird, but am not crazy about the background.  I would do it over, but the painting is due at 6PM TONIGHT.

Just made MORE corrections (not the background, though) so it should look better now.

I want to do one in oil for another exhibit.  Any suggestions for that one?
