A big warm Hello from the Netherlands to all my wonderful, warmhearted and loving friends. Right now I am doing just fine, being back home since a few days and getting back to my 'normale' life soon.
I am enjoying the great weather, the company from hubby and cat and all my stuff around me.

I just found this topic and all I can say is: Thank you so much my Dearest Friends, for all he best, warm wishes, all the kind and warmhearted words, they made me cry from gratefulness. Thank you for being such wonderful friends, and Thank you so very, very much my lovely, sweet and Dearest Friend Val, for what you have done. I feel blessed by your friendship, even we never met. But reading your messages when coming home, was just so wonderful.

Right now I still have to wait a few weeks before I know in what stage my cancer is, but the doctor that had done the surgery, told my partner right after it, that on first sight there where no secondairy tumours, so all we can do is hope that also microscopic there arent any one to find.

For those who asked what form of cancerI had, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had to wait almost 3 months for my surgery. Last Friday, well..two fridays ago, 21st of April I had my surgery, it took 2,5 hours and after staying at recovery for another 4,5 hours I ended up at my room, just for two so really quiet.
Right after I arrived I had to try to come out of bed, and the next day I allready had to walk around and be out of bed for 3 times 2 hous. I was part of Fast Track, to go home as fast as possible. They thought I could go home the 27the of April, our Kingsday.
But first I did get hight fever, so I was affraid something was going wrong and I would have to get a second surgery for a Stoma, but the next day all turned out just fine.

When my dr saw me on day 4 he was happely surprised to see me on a chair, enjoying some fruitsalade and looking 'strikingly fit', so he decided that I could go home the expected day, or even sooner. And just after they told me I could go home Wednesday 26th, I did get problems with my bladder, but, I did get some good medications and at the end of the day I was back home, after only 6 days at hospital.

The only thing I was scared for, was injecting myself every evening to prevent thrombosis, but as scary as it is to push  a needle into your upperleg, and realising you dont feel anything, makes it not only the most wierdest experience but also now just a daily routine.

I am still very tired but try to walk every morning around the few houseblocks where I live, and we even went for a walk. Too much too soon, but so worth the tiredness and pains afterwards, because I saw this young fiper, from last september, enjoying the late sunshine, en while stating to film him, he slowly turned his stredged body into a little ball...that was the first time I had seen such a young snake, he didn't have its grown up colours, but still was a little green, so it wasn hard to see if it was a male or female viper. But it was the most perfect end of the day.

Well, writing starts to get difficult, my wounds are starting to hurt from sitting upright for too long, but I wanted to let all of you know that for now I am doing just fine, I miss you all, I love all of you and before you know, I am back enjoying all the things I so love.

Well, have a wonderful Sunday my dearest friends, talk to you soon again,
and Val, you are my most precious friend and I love you for being that, for being always there for me just on the right moment, with the right words. I feel blessed and so very, very thankful and grateful for having you as my friend.
Loads of Love and big hugs, Riya

Riya,

So happy to hear from you.  Sounds like you have been through quite an ordeal.  Sending prayers that your cancer is completely gone.

Hope you can sit upright long enough to get back to painting very soon.

How wonderful to read your message, Riya and know that you're on the road to recovery! Continuing to send lots of healing prayers your way - can't wait until you've enough strength to paint again - it's one of the best medicines!
Cheers,
Sharon

You are doing so well Riya, you can help me jump back in the puddles of w/c!  :yippee:   Until it cools down a bit I'm setting my pastels aside, not a good thing to work with while running fans!      :2funny:

Cheers, Val

Thank you all for your warm and loving words, I am just so happy I am back home. I am tird for the most of the day, and dont do much more then surfing around those loving warm communities that I missed so much. And everywhere I find these wonderful people, Dutch, English American it doesn't matter what website, I feel so blessed with all these wonderful people.

Every where I say thanks for kind words, I find friends that, even we never have met, hold a warm spot in my heart. I sometimes find it hard to have no friends in real life, others then those who where already friends of my partner, but two of them turned out to be real friends for both of us, and changed their minds and closed me in their arms and heart too. Sometimes something like cancer makes people be more open, but others like my siblings and children still dont care at all, and just are acting very agressive and telling me to leave them alone. No problem, after all these years I cant cry about it anymore, I just wanted them to know that I was ill...but they just dont care.

I know it is hard, but sometimes the best thing we can do is to put those people from our minds. You have so many others here and about I am certain who do care and wish only for the best for you.

Now, me on the other hand... well you've been illegally adopted and I know as much as it is a hardship for you, you are stuck with me.  :1hug: The final papers should be arriving shortly.  ;)
:goofy: Are you feeling afeared yet? You probably should!  :2funny:         :smitten:    :-*
 What if I could just show up at your door?!!  :flight:
Then you'd really have something to cry about!  :'(      :faint:       :2funny:
Cheers, Val

Wonderful, you are back      That makes my day!  :yippee:

Often people are closer to friends than family.  Focus on the love you have, not the one you wish for.  People sometime pull away because they are frighten and don't know how to deal with pain.

Start you day with what you like most to do (so that should rule out making the bed and the dishes), then rest when you are tired.
