This is nothing art related.

Some might not know but my husband has been suffering for many years with a back problem and has later moved to his hip. We do not have a medical aid/insurance so we have to make use of our Government/State hospital system.

My husband has been send around from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist with no help. Everyone says he must get a hip but no one books it and after booking another 18 month waiting period. He suffers from End State Osteoarthritis and Spinal Stenosis. Another year has passed and been to several hospitals and no end in sight. He has now been referred back to the very first hospital where he started. It is very disheartening to get not results and to see him like this.

I have decided to start a fundraising campaign to see if I can raise the funds for him to go to a private hospital and have the hip replacement. My husband walks with aid. He can't walk far and suffers everyday all day. The biggest challenge is that he works as a Mobile Crane Mechanic meaning it is on his feet all day and doing very heavy lifting. It is interfering with his work and we just don't see a light at this stage.

I am posting this here and I hope it is ok. If you know of someone who can also assist. If you guys can share anyone also. (Never done fundraising before)

Here is the link https://gogetfunding.com/pain-free-life/

Ps: Thanks in advance. (Nolan/Dennis hope it is ok that I posted it here. Not really sure where to turn to beside my own Facebook account)

Maryna, I am sorry to hear of your husband's struggle with back pain. Medical coverage has become a big problem here in the US too. Our premiums sky rocket and coverage is low. You said that he was referred back to the first hospital where he started. WHen will they see him? Since they now have a history on him, is there a chance they will book his surgery?

Thanks ladies.

Kathy the very first hospital that saw him (this year) did not want to help him. The specialist said no to the hip. Even though it is bone on bone. We left dissapointed. He then went to see a private specialist who said there is no question, that Johan must get a hip but it is going to cost a min of R150000. Then we tried going to añother state hospitàl and were send from dr to dr and to other hospitals. They must follow procedure. If they do book him eventually it is going to be another 18  month waiting period.
Johan is in pain everyday and it is affecting his ability to work and walk.
Over the last 3 or 4 years we have seen loads of drs.
The hospital were he is going back to he must open a new file again because it is a new year. Yes that is how bad they work, it is a disgusting place.

I have a big UPDATE:

We went to the State Hospital again (one that did not want to help him before). It was a very exhausting and emotional day, but in the end there is finally progress.

My husband saw a very kind Orthopedic surgeon and he even spoke our native language (double points). So hubby must go back on the 9th of February to their Orhto Clinic where a team of doctors see him and do evaluations and he will get his date for his surgery.  :yippee: The doctor indicated the waiting period would be between 4 to 5 months. That is a miracle in itself as the normal waiting period is a minimum of 18 months. Due to his severity they could even perhaps do it sooner.

I am so so grateful today and feel so blessed. God really had his hands over us.

I am also very grateful to everyone who made a donation to my fundraiser. I have refunded everyone as it is the right thing to do. I so much appreciate each and everyone who took it upon themselves to help us. God Bless everyone and once again a big big thank you.

Thank you Nolan and Dennis for allowing me to share our story.

Maryna, I am so pleased to hear of the progress you have made with your husband's hip problem. My elderly sister (80 years old) fell and broke her hip, had surgery and such wonderful care in a State Hospital in Pretoria and is now well on her way to recovery.  I pray the same for your husband.    Patricia

That is great news Maryna. Living with chronic pain is horrid.  :'(   I am so glad something can and will be done to bring your husband relief.
Cheers, Val
