I took a gouache class in an Art Tutorial. This is the result. I did not know where to put this in the forum. I find the bright colours and opaque medium interesting, its like painting with acrylics due to the possibility of painting light over dark colours.
Would love to hear your comments.

:congrats: Bravo Gita. This pair is/are(?) awesome.   O0

I have always thought that in order to succeed and excel in something, you must surround yourself with people who are successful in what it is you wish to achieve. You are most definately are being kept close to me.

Well done, excellent job.

Lovely, Gita!  I have only used white gouache to hide my mistakes.

I like the style of this one.

Great Painting! O0 Water color tends to have more depth. It might be interesting to see if you could paint the picture using just water color.  For myself, I usually have one or two spots in most of my paintings where I used Gouache. I hope to get better at WC, but until then Gouache is my friend.
 :painting:

Dennis has told us the in the past that he has painted in  Gouache. He chose to focus on WC here on PB due to trying to provide a manageable number of mediums for students.
 :smart:

I have determined that  Gouache is a great medium when one is in a hurry to mock up something that you might do in Acrylics or oil in the future. The Gouache is also an amazing medium to use when trying to fix a really bad error on a Water Color painting. :crazy2:

:knuppel2: Of course the WC purist would be very unhappy knowing that you used Gouache, but in my book it is totally fine. Chinese white is  Gouache and is included in every water coloring kit you get at the store.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your detailed comment, Bryce.
I am aware that Gouache is normally used to correct mistakes in WC or to "mock up" like you said acrylics or oil. By the way I like your painting "Abstract Flowers on Waterpainted Paper". It's beautiful!

After getting to know the Gouache medium, I am pleased that it is a medium which has properties like acrylic and I can paint this on paper or even on canvas. For me this is useful while travelling or painting plein air.

I liked your idea to paint this in WC ( I wouldn't have done this otherwise  :D). So this is the result. I did not try to imitate colours which I took in Gouache since I have another WC palette. I had some initial difficulties in switching to WC since I had to plan the painting ahead!

I did not use any masking fluid. The only bit where I used Gouache was the white for the eyes though I think Chinese white is probably the same.

Please, do tell me what you think about it.  :smiley6600:
As for me I like both. WC gives additional transparency but one should say that Gouache does have a brilliancy to its colours. I have put both paintings for better comparison.
