Hello everyone, my name is Tanya and I'm from Vancouver, Canada.  This looks to be a great site and I look forward to getting to know folks here and learning.

I have always wanted to capture the world and express myself through drawing or painting, I wanted to 'breathe back the beauty of nature through my hands", corny - but the only way I can express it.  I just never thought I could be an artist.

In 2013 I 'checked into rehab'  and when I got out I picked up a pen and haven't stopped since.  Art is my therapy, literally. Since I started I see the world in a whole different way, I look at nature more intently now, the lines and curves and the COLOUR - oh the colour!  :painting:

I am untrained and for some reason have resisted it, I think I'm afraid structure will somehow take away the freedom I have with it... but I'm still working that out!  :crazy2:

Heres to being open and free!

Cheers,
Tanya

Welcome, Tanya!  Hope you will enjoy Paint Basket as much as I do.

I love your Henry Ford quote:  "Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right"

I'm looking forward to seeing your work.  You will find that we are here to support each other. Nolan and Dennis give the professional instruction and we provide the moral support, along with positive critique.

Show us what you got!

Welcome to Paintbasket, Tanya. I love your enthusiasm for art and your desire to maintain your freedom in it. Have no worries. What you will learn with Dennis and Nolan will help you expand your own personal style. You will have additional tools to express yourself freely with pencil or brush.  :painting:

:thankyou: for the welcome! I look forward to learning from you all.

I'm also not sure where I list what my medium is but I enjoy drawing with pen and ink the most, then acrylic painting, coloured pencil, markers, sculpting... really I'll try anything.  ;D

Cheers!

Tanya,

Yes, this is the correct place to answer the question about what media you work in.  All your artworks will appear, though, in the various media sections.

We have folks here who dabble in a bit of most all of them.  Not sure we have any sculptors, though.
I do oil, watercolor, and pencil most.  I'm being urged to try pen and ink - yikes, I'm scared.

Looking forward to seeing your work.
