Title: Applying varnish
Post by: Tezza1258 on January 21, 2016, 04:35:57 AM
Hi Nolan and all,
Do you recommend varnishing acrylic work? Actually, specifically multimedia paintings?
Would love some advice,
 :thankyou:
Terri

Although I am not a fan of varnishing oil paintings, I do however varnish my acrylic paintings.

The reason for varnishing them is that unlike oils, acrylics don't dry to a gloss finish, so by varnishing your acrylic paintings you end up with a lovely gloss finish and deep vibrant colours.

You can use any good quality acrylic varnish to do that

With mixed media painting I will tend to seal them with texture paste as opposed to varnishing them

you don't have to varnish your oil or acrylic paintings if you don't want to O0
