Title: I now have an art website!
Post by: Sacgal/Sharon on October 12, 2015, 08:28:51 AM
This has been on my to do list for quite a while and I'm excited that I now have a website for my art! My friend's daughter creates these as a side business, using wix.com. In exchange for my painting a picture for her mom, she put this together for me at no cost.

The site address is www.sharongerberart.com (http://www.sharongerberart.com).  If you have a moment, I'd really appreciate if you could take a look at it and send any suggestions for edits. I haven't told anyone about this yet, besides my husband and all of you - once I get your thumbs up I'll start spreading the word.

Many thanks in advance!

Sharon, congrats on your new web site. I don't know that much about web sites, I knew know I like your home page. I would say you got blessed by your friend. I know it costs to set up one of these. I am very happy for you and also proud of you.
[  You've come a long way baby!!   move]

I now can say I know a professional artist.

Congratulations!   Good move to have your own website.

I am at the airport and the computer wouldn't download your page as if it did not recognized it.  I don't have time to figure it out now.  I will try again when I arrive at destination.  :yippee:

Very happy for you.  Your friend's daughter obviously also believe in you.

Sharon,

What a classy website.  So great to have all your work in one place.

I tried to sign up for your mailing list but got this message:

Please use App Settings to select the MailChimp list

How do I do that?

Best wishes for continued success!!!

:thankyou: Nina, Kathy, Dennis, Mea and Annie. I hope you read my "Welcome to my new website" link on the home page - I acknowledge the wonderful Paint Basket community!

And Mea - you're right that there's something off on the mail list subscription link - I'll have the web designer correct that - thanks for trying it!

Nina - web site designs are costly, so I am very fortunate I have something of value to barter for this! I bought the domain from GoDaddy for $20 and it costs $111 for a year for the hosting by wix.com...hoping it pays off!

Good news, Mea - I fixed the bug for the subscription link - it should work now!

Looks great Sharon !!  Well done you, I think this will drive a lot of sales your way. The web site is easy to navigate and follows a logical progression through the pages.

My only suggestion would be to have an example of what the matted and framed limited edition prints would look like, that way your customers have some idea of what to expect. I only mention this because I sold a framed and matted painting to a customer whose expectations were a lot higher than the finished article I sent to her. She was expecting double matting and an inlay frame as well .... not possible on the amount I was charging her  :) I am sure that with your framer you can come to some arrangement which benefits both of you.

Well done again on taking that big bold step into the unknown!   :flowers:  :gl2:

Cheers
Fi

:thankyou: Fiona, Lisa, Marsha and Liana! And interesting idea about photos of framed prints, Fi - I'll see if I can add them. I'll probably go public with this later this week - feels good to have it done. It took a lot of time!

Great site Sharon, congratulations! I agree with Fi, maybe with the addition of showing multiple framing options with different pricing levels. You may be able to have just one page with the various frameing options shown, with the painting the the customer is interested in superimposed in the frame selected. If that is to fancy, then just frame a picture in each option and show those.

Congrats again and good luck.

very neat website, congrats :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

I suggest you now rewatch the website videos in the Hobby into Business course (especially the QnA video) to see what you need to fix - I have listed everything there, but the main things were:

1) if selling an artwork with a frame you need to show the frame.
2) there are no social sharing buttons O0

:thankyou: so much, Barry, Nolan, Natalie, Jill, Patricia, Annie & Danielle! Sorry for the delayed response - I've been training with my husband this week (my side job!)

Here's the problem with posting paintings framed - I have a special deal with my framer - he only charges me $75 to mat/frame any size painting. In exchange, I have to give him framer's choice - which has been exceptional.  So I can't really post a framed version of my paintings since I have no idea what the frame will be. I'll keep pondering this and see if I can come up with a solution...

And Nolan, there is a link to my facebook page.  Even though I have twitter and linked in accounts, I rarely use them - although I probably should but my time is so limited as it is that to manage 2 more social media accounts is a bit overwhelming right now.  I'll definitely review the  Hobby into Business video...always good to have a refresher!!

And I'm a big believer in karma too, Natalie!

OK - I'm getting closer to letting the public see it now!!
