Title: Canvas instead of WC paper
Post by: Danielle123 on August 23, 2014, 10:53:10 AM
          Did anyone have ever used a wc canvas instead of WC paper for water colour paintings?  I just saw from an artist   "Painting on Watercolor Canvas with JoBeth Gilliam"  apparently you can lift the white no problem and no need to frame with glass and matts.   I did not go any further because that meant to purchase more classes.

Someone has bought the ground from Daniel Smith and used it.  I think Harald also has played around with the watercolor canvas.

I've been seeing it in the stores here, but I haven't picked it up.  I would imagine it requires varnishing?

The ground that was bought is not for watercolour but for using with pastels to give a tooth.
There are canvasses specially for use with watercolours. I have not used them as yet. I  have one somewhere. You will have to add a varnish over the watercolour otherwise it will smudge and be destroyed by mishandling.

Dennis Daniel Smith makes a ground for watercolor that can be applied
to canvas,metal,wood...a lot of different surfaces. I think it was
Sunrai who tried it out.
