Title: Artist Directory on Facebook
Post by: nolan on July 01, 2014, 11:34:42 PM
I have started an Artist Directory on Facebook which I think could be an awesome way to promote your art, more info here:

Leave it to Nolan to bump me out of my comfort zone!   :fight: Something I was planning to do later this year was to build a web site and create an Art page on Facebook, emphasis on Later!  :2funny:

ok, so I busted a move on the web site today. http://www.stevelemkeart.com (http://www.stevelemkeart.com) and did the FB page last night when the Directory page went up https://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-Lemkes-art/258270661039600?ref_type=bookmark. (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-Lemkes-art/258270661039600?ref_type=bookmark.)  The web site is active, but I have a lot of caption information to list for all the art I posted.  If you care to have a look and can give some feedback I'd love it.  First time for me creating a website, although it's similar to the myspace format from a few years ago...  I left the elements very simple to focus more on the art rather than site design.  Too spartan?  I know the Bio is pretty short (which it should be I think).  I know wrapping this old brain around it took most the day! ;)

Hi Steve .... Just visited your new web site.   I really like the simplicity of the site and your art works display well.  I look forward to the finished product.
Your Facebook page is very well done.  So cool.  You are an inspiration for sure !!

Good for you.  I'm so happy for you.   :)          :yippee:

awesome job on your website Steven :congrats:
What I suggest you do is add a sign up form to the bottom of the home page so you can email people when you update your website. I suggest Mailchimp as they have a start free option which should be more than enough for a long time O0

Thanks Didwaud!

Great suggestion Nolan, I've seen that feature on other's sites and it's a great idea to bump the people interested in your site now and then!  I'll look at Mailchimp.. O0

And done... I will use the same email form for both newsletter sign ups and inquiries... if that makes sense... take a look and let me know...  now to add the pricing info, and I have not hooked up with Pay Pal yet...

Nolan, Can I add a link to my Etsy and FineArt America sites, or is it for personal sites only? I had to shut down my personal site. Couldn't afford it.

That might be too much of a challenge for me. Every time I click over to it, I turn around and click right back out. It's a mess.

Is it possible to use Mailchimp on a Facebook page?

You can get people to sign up on your FB page Susan, is that what you are trying to do?

Nolan, eventually I will be making my paintings (and prints) available for sale on Fine Art America. In conjunction with that, I will also be setting up a Facebook page. I do not have plans to set up any other web page other than those two. I would like to have the ability to notify people (Facebook friends and others, for whom I have e-mail addresses) when I add new work. I don't know how Mailchimp works.

mailchimp is basically a bulk email service which lets you send emails to those that have signed up to the list, like our newsletter. People need to subscribe themselves to the list. You are not going to be able to send emails to anybody from Facebook or FAA like that Susan. You need to get them to sign up to your mailchimp list first
