Title: PNI - Lesson #17 - Ostrich Portrait
Post by: dennis on June 06, 2014, 01:06:12 PM
In order for me to easily find and answer queries about this Lesson I will appreciate it if everyone will keep these  to this specific Lesson Posting only. This will also be of benefit to you as well in the future.  Thanks

I have just completed my Ostrich, I know I am doing these out of order but I find I enjoy it more if I do my way.
The drawing is also freehand.

   Wow, Helen, a fantastic job on the Ostrich.  As Val mentioned, the eye is just beautifully drawn. Apart from the basic lessons which are the foundation and are teaching the fundamentals, I too, enjoy drawing what takes my fancy and not necessarily in the order in which they are presented.

Natalie,

Cute ostrich.  I think that hairy eyeball staring at me will haunt me forever.  Great features or is it considered fur?  Whatever - it looks great.

Maryna,

I like your ostrich.  Cute little critter.  His eye seems more rectangular than round, though.

Excellent, Maryna     That straight line at the side of the eye is actually a "wiper" that periodically moisturizes the eye surface similar to a lizard.

A class a day keeps you healthy and alive! Love the big eyes of the ostrich. All renditions are very good! :D

I activated my old Rotring radiograph pens. Did this one with 0,50. The reason why I could not get the very fine tonal differences is because the 0,3 pen is clogged. I carry this pen with me now together with my drawing book.

This is my rendition. Thank you Dennis again. This class captivated me all through.

Excellent, Gita    The lower part of the eye has been filled in just a bit too much and you have lost the expression of the ostrich. All is not lost, however. With a tiny brush and some Chinese White or Acrylic White, just tip out some of the dots until you have the eye looking like the one Maryna has done  O0 Also I see you have cross-hatched in the eye instead of just dots.

Thank you so much for the feedback Dennis. I have corrected the eyes with Chinese white. It does make a difference :smiley6600:
