Title: Getting Tricky....
Post by: Val on April 29, 2014, 01:10:50 AM
It started off so simple, this is going to be a snap. Just a simple little sketch, draw a few lines, eezy-peezy!  O0 Cruising along....  maybe not.  The nearer I get to finishing, the more complex it seems to become!  :o What to do, what to do?

I would suggest when doing your first original p&i .... to perhaps choose a subject with a few less curves and angles than I chose!  :D OR, at least finish the course Dennis so kindly provided! What was I thinking?    No challenge like a self inflicted one eh?!  ;D

I'm 3/4 through so shouldn't be long now she says!     :2funny:   Thank goodness there are no people in this one!    NO!!!   :faint:

What was that I once said about 'Lofty ambitions, and dizzying heights'?  Get me down!!!  :parachute:    :2funny:

Sure Nina... you can laugh!  >:(    :2funny:

:peace: I am almost there Natalie. It's all Dennis' fault! He sent me off like I got launched from a catapult!!!  :heeha:   Ok, so it's not all Dennis' fault. I'm just a bit excitable when something new comes by.

I promise not to let those suspenders get too tight!  >:D If it's calm tonight I should (hopefully) be able to get it finished.

Sorry it's taking so long Natalie. Have just had too much swell coming in lately to do anything.  :( It was reasonably calm around 0100 this morning so got some more done. Just got going nicely and a thunderstorm comes through!  Not so calm now and we are still bouncing about  :boat:   Should have stopped sooner, but I'm anxious to get it done....should have known better. A few slips and errors, one day I'll learn!

:surrender:    :flowers:    :peace:    I apologize Dennis...it's really not all your fault. It's that son of yours! The pair of you just provide far too much excitement and opportunities galore!  :heeha: What's a gal to do?  ??? Paint?  :-\ Draw? .........

Watercolour, Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Graphite, Ink, Charcoal(?) !!!  :faint:

I LOVE IT ALL !!!  :smitten:    Therein lies the problem. Two cute  :smart: :smart: intelligent, talented, and oft times funny guys teaching all of the things I've always wanted to know.   :thankyou:

Take heed all who wish to excel in P&I, do the course first.... you will be so really, really, glad you did.

Seems I forgot to post the picture, so here it is..... warts and all!

Val,

Glad you found it before it found it's way to the bin.

It's quite nostalgic.

Was it a P n I Lesson or just something you drew on your own?

Going back and seeing this after two years, I find I'm not so critical of it anymore. The blobs that had me  :pullhair: don't matter so much, and the missed out bits just don't matter because other than a few that really stand out to me, I've forgotten all the rest.

Now I can assess it for what is there, and not so much for what  isn't. This is why it is so important to keep these early masterpieces.... wow...I wasn't half bad, eh?        :2funny:

Mea, I had only done a couple of the line lessons, and the first little house and boxes before getting so excited I went off on a tangent and did the truck! Typical of me, no?  ;D

This I did on my own from a photo I took up in Belize a few years ago. Didn't have a clue how I was going to do it, just went at it as though it was a live class.... you wouldn't believe the conversations I had with Dennis during this one! Good thing he wasn't within hearing distance!   :2funny:

Ta much Annie, the license plate isn't the only thing I missed! But....it does emphasize the fact that less is more, so I'm not telling!  :-X    :2funny:

Much appreciated Gita.  :1hug:   This may have been just a wee bit ambitious for my first real go with a dip pen.... but looking at it now two years later, pretty ballsy!     :2funny:

Val, I managed to read the whole thread in my pause now and I am still smiling. Can´t laugh loud right now at work eventhough I feel like doing it. :2funny: :2funny:
This thread with your comments even excels your amazing truck in quality!   O0 Like someone already mentioned in this thread your witty comments are a great pleasure to read and tell me, you did´nt go for poetry yet?  :gl:

By the way, I do have to brush up with my urban and slang dictionary ..... :fight: Living for too long in Germany
