Hi Nolan
Happy 2014 to you and Dennis and to all the Paint Basket members!!!
Sorry, I've been away too long.  Hopefully I can get back into painting this year.

Re: old vs new version of the Colour Buster - I bought the Paint Basket Colour Buster way back in 2011.  Just wondering whether there are major differences between the 2 versions; and whether I should buy the new version also.

Re:  Pencil Finder - I can't seem to find any info on this within Paint Basket.

Thanks ... Cheers for now.
Vangie

There have not been any major changes to the Color Buster. The one in the video is what the current version looks like.

Pencil Finder:
I still need to set up the sales page for the Pencil Finder. Here is a video that shows you how to use it

pencil finder with colour photos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDHiixszUAQ#ws)

You can purchase it in the store HERE (http://www.paintbasket.com/shop/#tools)

Thanks for that Nolan  O0   I'll have to get a new colour buster/pencil finder soon anyway. The laminating sheets didn't seal 100% so they're lifting.

Nolan, in the drawing course there was a tonal chart that we had to print out. Should I still get the pencil finder?

I was just about to order the Pencil Finder, then I read your message, Nolan, to Maryna.  I bought the Lets Draw DVDs some years back ... would they have the Pencil Finder?  (Sorry,  :( I actually haven't watched them, just like so many other DVDs I've got ... I'll get there one day...)

It looks like a very interesting and helpful gadget! Very clever, Nolan!

Hi everyone. What a fantastic gift this website is. I am a new practicing artist for these types of mediums. I am somewhat overwhelmed and want to jump right in and sign up for all of the classes. I think that I should start with the pencil drawing, although I love the painting classes because I love color. I have also worked with art glass and at the moment it is all in storage. I need some help figuring out how to get started. I did listen to the announcement videos and what I want to ask is, if it is recommended to start with the pencil drawing class first? And if so, will it have the color buster/pencil busters or will they have to be purchased separately?

Hi GP,
I am very new at art, but the PB experts will tell you that drawing is imperative to good painting.  They will also recommend that you choose one painting medium and learn to master it before moving on to an other one.

Saying that pencil drawing and painting are neither exclusive nor linear.  I am doing both at the same time.   The drawing lessons (first I did the Let's draw, a 28 days course,  and now I will start the pencil drawing lessons)  and the oil painting lessons, in the order recommended.  It works very well in parallel.

You haven't yet found out how amazing this site is, beside the first class instruction, there is a full cohort of artists at all level of expertise who are more then willing to land you a hand, and all this in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Whatever you do, post it and you will see the replies you will get.

The color buster is very worth the small one time cost.

 :welcome: to PB
p.s. there is at least one free lesson in each medium that you can try before you invest... but fair warning, you will soon be hook on painting  :painting:

GP,

Glad you found PB.  I started with oil, but soon found that I needed to learn to draw.  Drawing classes have changed my life.  I carry a sketch kit with me everywhere.

Yes, drawing is the best place to start - will give you the good foundation to do better work.

You can always try other media, though, if you really want to get started right away, but keep up the drawing.

Get started.  We want to see your work.

:bigwelcome: Hi GPeachy    If you start with the Let's Draw Classes, highly recommend that you do... the Pencil Buster is included in the course.

When you are ready to move on to colour medium(s) you can purchase the Colour Buster in the site shop. Glad you joined us, I look forward to seeing your works and progression. If you have any queries just sing out and someone will be there to lend a hand.

Have fun!  :yippee:

:bigwelcome:

The Pencil Finder is included in the Lets Draw course.

Otherwise they are all separate purchases.

I would suggest you join the club at our sister website (OnlineArtLessons.com (http://onlineartlessons.com)) if you intend following more than one medium as that is the cheapest way to access them O0

:gl: and look forward to seeing your progress :yippee:

Hi Annie,

I did purchase the Color Buster and have finally started assembling, them.  After reading up in the forum about how to do this, it does not appear that I do not have the pencil finder. I will need to see if there is a \separate charge for this in the store. I hope  not. I have the Color Buster and the Grey Buster.  Still learning the ins/outs of the forum.

If I remember correctly, the pencil buster is offered free in return for some feedback on one of the Let's Draw videos. Sorry, I don't remember which one.

Ginger, if you purchased the 'Let's Draw' course, the Pencil Buster is included in the course.

I am not really selling the Pencil Finder as such - in one of the first pencil drawing classes there is however a link where you can purchase it for $5. The Pencil Finder has been more of a give away as a bonus to the Lets Draw course.
