Title: Aloha, folks
Post by: mea hamo pena on May 11, 2013, 12:37:31 PM
I am so happy to have found this site.

I have just taken up oil painting and am amazed at my progress.  I never felt I had even a shred of artistic talent.

A friend encouraged me to take her class at a senior citizen recreation program.  She makes it easy and fun!

So far, I have been painting flowers and Hawaii scenes.  I hope to try other things as I gain confidence.

I look forward to hearing from others.

Post by: mea hamo pena on February 14, 2014, 07:26:23 AM
Happy Valentine's Day to all.

This is the most Valentine-ish painting I have, so instead of a heart, I'll present my cosmos.  It turned out to be a mixed media because I accidently used both oil and watercolors.

You folks have been turning in some fabulous work the past few days!  Natalie, Lynn, Rhetta - you are on a roll!

I will miss seeing  a lot of your work as I will be away for the next six weeks.  I will be visiting friends and family on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

I will do some lurking when I have access to WI-FI.

Keep up the good work.  I will have a lot of catching up to do when I return.

Thanks for the good travel wishes, everyone.

The weather here on Cape Cod has been fantastic - what we call Indian Summer.

I have limited access and a computer with few capabilities, so I'll be posting very infrequently for now.

I will go to Portugal in October for a week.  Really looking forward to that.

Yesterday I got to try my new Sakura electric eraser.  I think I am going to like it when I get used to it.  Also, I have a full supply of oil and watercolor supplies here, so will paint when I get a chance.

Will check in again when I get access.

Happy painting and drawing.

Travel update!

Thanks for your well wishes.

Last night I took stock of the art supplies I have here as I plan to do paint night with my neighbors.  Or maybe a drawing night as I have already done a watercolor night and an oil night with them.

I bought a mouse yesterday so have more ease in using this mini-computer.

Am busy with getting my house ready to sell or rent.-  UGH!  It's an underground house so is more difficult to sell than most.  http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/24-Westerly-Dr-Bourne-MA-02532/55863745_zpid/

Yes, Patricia I was there.  Worked long days -  there at 5AM, done by 6PM.  LOVED it.

I am not a golfer but I admire the fact that the PGA holds these tournaments ONLY if run by a charity.  We raised over $1 million this week for Hawaii charities.

My dear PB-ers

Sorry to have been out-of-communication so a few days.

I made an emergency trip to Massachusetts for a family funeral and this is the first time I have had a chance to get at a computer.  My brother-in-law passed away within a week of a bad fall.

I will be back in action by the middle of next week.

Hopefully, there will be some time for me to check on all your work while I am gone, but not until after Thursday.

Miss you all.

I left Boston yesterday with a wind chill factor of -1 degrees F.  Was in the low 80's when I arrived in Honolulu.  So happy to be home.  Gotta defrost my bones.

I missed a lot of good artwork - you folks did all right while I was gone.

I'll be back in action tomorrow!
