Title: Small Quick Pastel painting
Post by: Win on August 08, 2017, 02:17:13 PM
After I had struggled with a class and was feeling temporarily artistically challenged  :eyesclosed: I decided to just do a small quick pastel painting, I just let it evolve as I went along.  I did feel a little better but Im not sure Im cut out for landscapes.

I know how struggling with a painting can really bring down confidence. I actually think you should do more landscapes. The clouds look very well done and the lighting on the trees is wonderful! Good job!

    A good job with the pastels Win.  Your clouds are excellent as Emma Lee said. Perhaps a lighter reflection of them in the water would brighten up the painting and hopefully restore your confidence for you are a good artist and you are not alone, for we all have those "down" days.

I'm not much cop for landscapes myself, I think you did a great job.  O0   Far better than my little go. One thing I have learned is when working on dark paper you need to push those brights a bit more.

Funny how I've always had to keep reminding myself to push the darks....now I have to push the lights!

Great little painting Win, maybe just brighten up the sky reflection in the water a bit where the trees dip down?
Don't be down....you did great!

:thankyou: Emma Lee, Patricia and Val, I shall lighten up the water (which started out as a field but metamorphosed into a river ) as suggested.
