Title: Practice piece
Post by: Abbietaya on June 24, 2017, 06:56:24 PM
Never tried to draw a pug before. This little guy has a lot of colours in him, his head has black, cream, yellow, beige and chocolate yet his body has yellow, reddyish brown , brown , some grey and some black. I think i did a decent effort with his head but i didn't have the right colours really for his body, all my browns are on the red side , in the end i completely filled the paper so couldn't add anymore! Not too happy with it? I feel its important to show bad work as well as good. This is definitely a could do better! Oh ! how i use to hate that phrase when it was put on my school report! Lol

:heeha: Aw, he's a lovely little fellow. Even if the colours are not correct you did a great job with what you had.  O0 Extra points for working it through.

 I agree with Val and Gita. You've done a fine job on this pug.   O0 You made the colors you had work. Had you not tattled on yourself, I'd have thought that was the color of his body.  ;)

I do agree it is helpful to post our successes and our experiments. We all learn from each other this way.

You have done a splendid job on the Pug. Have you looked at Dennis' lesson on the Pug?  It was so interesting and I am sure you will love it.

Hi, thank you everyone , for your kind help .

Yes, i am just starting to watch the pug lesson with dennis. I am going to have to start again though, i took my pain meds and sat down to watch sorry dennis i saw you do the eye and then fell asleep. No reflection on your teaching more a comment on your soothing calm voice i think  :D.

I will get some singleton pencils as near to the colour dennis uses and have  a go.

I have also realised that as long as you get the shading and tonal work right it doesn't really matter if the colours aren't right! Another realisation is i am noticing colours more.

Thanks again for your support
Take care all
 :thankyou: :smitten: :painting:

Nice work on these!

You're not only one finding Nolan's voice....soothing ;D . I usually just mute and follow along pdf :2funny: . Or else never make it to end. Not sure if the new class has pdf.
Nolan,  :smitten: .

I concur that if you get the values right, you're already there 80% of the painting. The remainder is for the hue and chroma.
