Title: Tony's Let's Draw Pencil Course Drawings
Post by: TonyAvitua on February 28, 2017, 09:03:36 PM
Well, this is my sad looking tree! The sketchbook I have has white sheets, but the image came out looking brown.

Tony,

The one good thing about doing a BEFORE tree is how good your AFTER tree is going to look.

Thank you for uprighting my tree! Would it be better to scan a sketch instead of taking a picture of it for uploading? I just noticed that I added some shading to the main tree trunk, but forgot to put some on the branches showing through the leaves. Maybe I should have sketched this by looking at a picture instead of from memory.

Tony,

I'm too lazy to scan a picture.   I have not gotten as good a picture from a scan anyway.

I just use my Iphone and email the photo to myself.  Then I take it to Picasa and make it look presentable before adding it to the gallery.

We love experiments, so try a scan and see what you get.

   Tony, good job on the tree. Now you will probably find as I do, after taking a photograph of your drawing/painting you will find things that you missed, things that you could improve on and the list just goes on. It happens to me all the time. Anyway, you have done a great job and Mea said it well "The one good thing about doing a BEFORE tree is how good your AFTER tree is going to look."

Well done on the tree. You're starting point is better than where I was. Just wait until you see the things you can do as you progress through the course. It's amazing!  :heeha:

I take photos with a camera. Never much luck with phones, scanners and the like. Load it onto the computer, resize and done. Easy is good.  ;)

As Patricia has said, I always see bits I've missed after photographing a piece  ..... and often times even more after it is uploaded!  :faint:

Looking forward to seeing more of your submissions.

Not sad at all! Now, mine was so sad Smokey the Bear screamed "Burn it, burn it!"

Very nice job.

Practice Practice Practice ( you will hear that a lot from Nolan and Dennis :) )and the flicks will flick and the curls will curl.

:detective: They look pretty flicky curly to me!  :heeha:    ;D   Good job, yours turned out well ahead of my go.
The more you 'practice', the better and easier it will get. Relax..... you're already better than you think.   O0

After several tries, I finally got something to post! I think I had the most trouble with the trees, which still look more like a saw blade!

:heeha: Great job Tony.  O0   It is difficult to just let go as it were when we first start. I suspect we have been so used to constraining ourselves, that the idea of initially just scribbling across the paper and expecting it to look like something is just totally foreign. That will pass as you practice more (you will hear that a lot!).  ;D

You've got all the basics here, mountains, trees, fisherman in boat, water, shadow and light! Just to give the reflections of the trees a looking more like reflections in water, try randomly and lightly dragging the edge of your rubber horizontally across the tree reflections. Not too many! It's easy to get carried away...just ask me!  :heeha:

Over all, job well done Tony!

Thanks for the feedback Val! Hmmm, that fisherman is not going to catch anything if his line is not in the water! I just noticed I forgot the fishing line!

    Good job Tony.  As I said before, after taking a photograph to upload, you will find so many things that you should have done and never did.  I find that all the time.  Anyway, you are doing a good job.

Well, finally got the Draw a Ball (more like a coconut!) exercise done. I thought I had figured out how to make the picture show up right side up, but...

There you go Tony!  O0
Cheers, Val
