Is it proper to do this?

Hi all,
Just thought of an idea to help speed up my painting but wanted to know if it's 'legal' or part of the painting process if necessary.

Let's say your painting is still very wet and you now wish to apply a major object onto it but, if you do so, you'll start picking up the wet paint of your underpainting causing a mess to your new object.
Is it possible to scrape off the wet paint with your pallet knife to begin painting in the area you want your new object to be?

Pros and cons and your opinions would be very helpful on this subject,

Thank you...

You can do this no problem, you just have to be very careful that you don't scrape past the line. I do it all the time O0
