Painting a 'shimmer'

Dennis..I was watching the Tui lesson today, and you were talking about the turquisey color of the back feathers to show a 'shimmer'.  Would the wax trick you showed us in the seascape painting work for the shimmer on the feathers?  Just a very light covering over the wash?

Wish I could edit a sentence without making a whole nuther reply.  I meant turquoisey color. The seascape just popped in my head, so I thought a light wax touching over the first wash might work on the bird.
I'll give it a try on scratch paper, but thought I'd better ask the "Boss" first!!

Retta, I did answer you, but it seems somehow the reply has disappeared into cyberspace 

The gist of the reply was that you can, but only use a very light covering as you don't want the colour to disappear completely. Try it, as you say, on another scrap of the same kind of paper you will be painting on.

Also remember that once applied you cannot remove the wax.
