Dogwood

I've lost my mind!!
I truly don't know what I was thinking. I tried to do another one on my own. I almost threw it away when I first started, but I told myself that it had to get better, because it couldn't get any worse!!! It is sooo much easier when you have a
telling you to use a little of this color and a little of that. Trying to figure it out on your own with so little experience is .... is..... uuuugggghhh
!!!The end result did come out a little better, but not by much. I almost didn't post it, but I figured I might as well! It isn't absolutely horrible
, but not very happy with it.
Hopefully, I will have better luck with lesson Dennis just finished! Will try that one.

Remember a post I added a short while ago?
He who does nothing makes no mistakes?
Pat yourself on the back for being brave enough to try and also to post

I was able to recognize the flower to be of a dogwood before really paid attention to the subject. It isn't bad CB. I like the earth tones and the green leaves that balance it out. The shading on the flower is interesting.

Kelley, you ar so diplomatic!!
I tried it from a picture. I think the shading was like dappled shade or something. You know, sunlight coming through the leaves.
There are some hard or rather found lines that I couldn't get rid of in the shading. (tried to rewet it after it dried, I just couldn't get it to work!
)
Leana, very daring yes, smart.....
!
Lillian, thank you for the gracious compliment
.
Maryna, trying it isn't hard, it's making it work that is the challenge!
Although, I suppose it is the only way to learn what NOT to do.
Dennis, thank you for being such a great teacher that I was convinced I could do anything after one lesson!
And now I know perfection comes with time! My eagerness is held back by my skill!!! I know the two will catch up to each other, one day!

One of the first things I tell my new students - on their first day - is that they are ALLOWED to make mistakes. Making mistakes are NOT failures. Failure comes when you stop altogether.
Every single one of us make mistakes, it just that the professionals can cover up their mistakes very quickly. I bet you did not notice the few mistakes I made in the watercolour lessons? When working at speed there is no time to "cover up"
And I think that everyone is doing just great
Great stuff

CB! I think you've created a art work of beauty. Step back and be proud. It's got a tranquil dream like quality about it.
Well done

C.Bodine:
Even tho it is still way to cold for the bees to be out of their hive, I want you to know that no sooner than I "pulled up" you dogwood flower painting than I had a dozen of the pesky little buggers flying into my computer screen , trying to get to the pollen
CB, Please keep painting and posting, your work is beautiful! I'm looking at the delicate veins you so masterfully painted on the petals. To me, that takes a gentle, skilled hand to pull that off and have it look so natural.
I'm not there yet, but I
am
showing my work and giving it as gifts, We are blessed to have this opportunity to create beauty and, I believe, an obligation to share it. What you and I see as flaws in our work, other see as some thing of value, that THEY CAN NOT DO.
I will now climb down off my soap box and slide back in to my studio ( and try to figure out exactly how you got those veins in those flowers
Regards to all
