Nolan, don't forget to answer my Q about the texture of the figures, can I layer it, since I don't have that other stuff?  :)

Oh another Q, can I re use my leftovers at a later stage like with watercolours?

I wasn't able to attend the full class.  I kept getting the boot.

Let's say I started a painting in acrylic and wanted to add oils.  I would assume I need the acrylic layer(s) to dry before adding any oil.  For acrylic, is there a typical drying time?  24 hours or a week perhaps to be safe?  Once ready to add oils, do I start with an alkyd and work fatter in following layers?  It would make sense to me if I were to treat the dry acrylic as if it were a layer of gesso.

Nolan used a hair dryer on his painting.

I have painted in acrylics before (my way) and it dry very very fast. Just don't mix the acrylic with the oil, that is a big mess.  ;)

So disappointed...I was all set up with my tools n paints, and the video kept freezing.  Audio was fine, but couldn't see what, where and how!  So, have bought the replay and will wait patiently til I can "see" what you did. The video came back on just as you finished the lamp and people!!  Thanks for having the class. It "sounds" really cool.

yes you can layer it Maryna O0

Kelley I just use the hairdryer on the acrylics until the gloss has disappeared, then it's dry enough to paint over with the oils

Tousabella, sorry about the freezing. It seems like a few folks were having that problem, I am going to try broadcasting at a slightly lower setting this week to see if helps. The replay is almost uploaded O0

Nolan, Maryna thank you for the tips.  I am actually considering doing the burlap using both acrylic and oil (for highlights).  I still have to get supplies, but I think it's going to work out.  Nolan, thank you for keeping the courses interesting and pertinent!

Please bear with me on the replay guys, Youtube keeps bombing out at the end of the upload process - I have used up 10G bandwidth already trying to get YT to accept the video - I think YT simply wasn't designed for the file sizes we use  :crazy2:

NOvice question: why don't you chop it up in 3-4 segments or more? Part 1, part 2 etc. They do it for tv shows.
If not now, when? If not me, who?

Question for Nolan about the final Acrylics painting.

With the sun being off in the distance there, doesn't that make the shadows of the people and the lamp wrong?

That question was asked in class too and Nolan replied that there are allot of factors that can play a role here, the sun, the lamp etc so one can use the shadow in many ways. But lets way for Nolan's reply  :)
